Dear Family and Friends,
This semester at Monmouth University classmates, professors, and I are participating in service learning. I am helping fundraise to help an extraordinary cause called the Bridge of Books Foundation. This non-profit organization helps children who are not as fortunate have books to call their own. This organization strives to support the development of literacy skills and genuine love for reading.
Did you know..
Only 35% of fourth grade students in the United States rank at or above proficient in reading achievement tests? (KidsCount.org)
Children from middle-income homes have on average 13 books per child. There is only one book for every 300 children in low-income neighborhoods (ClifOnline.org).
The Bridge of Books Foundation is an amazing foundation that lies in our own backyards. That is right, the Bridge of Books Foundation supplies kids all around New Jersey with books and has a special investment with our Monmouth County kids!
The Bridge of Books Foundation has helped an estimated of 275,000 children across New Jersey!
