How would you feel if you had no access to any books in your home while growing up? Growing up as a kid I had a huge bookshelf filled with all different kinds of books to read. I doubt I even read all one of them! Some children today can not afford to have a bookshelf in their home filled with tons of books like most of us have or have had. Bridge of Books Foundation is a non profit organization that allows people to donate money in order to get the children of New Jersey all different kinds of books that they want and most importantly need. With the donations that Bridge of Books Foundation recieve, they go out and purchase books for children who are not fortunate enough to buy any themselves. Reading books helps improve their literary skills as they grow older, which is extremely important. A lot of us don't know how not having books feels because we are so fortunate to have a never ending amount of them. My classmates and I at Monmouth University are raising money for the Bridge of Books Foundation. A little goes a long way, so any kind of donation would help those children in need!

Here are some statistics I found:

Students who don't read proficiently by the 3rd grade are 4 times likelier to drop out of school. (dosomething.org)

There has been a total of 577,299 books donated, which has helped about 275,000 children!

The Bridge of Books Foundation is located in New Jersey and only help children who live and go to school in state.

1 in 4 children in America grow up without learning how to read. (dosomething.org)
