Family & Friends,
Please help us give the gift of literacy to underserved children. Help us honor our beloved son and brother, Anthony W. Harper, Jr., by making a donation to the Bridge of Books Foundation.
Anthony W. Harper, Jr. was born November 10, 1990. He was raised in both Yardley, PA and Mount Laurel, NJ. His early education began at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Trenton, NJ and continued in both the Yardley and Mount Laurel public school systems.
Anthony was an early reader and a highly gifted scholar who consistently tested above academic standards. He graduated from Lenape High School in 2008 and attended Elizabeth City State University.
Anthony had an infectious smile and warm personality that quickly turned strangers into family. To those who knew him, he was never just a friend; he was always a “brother” or a “best friend”. Anthony was polite, respectful and had a strong work ethic which made him a popular Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens in both Elizabeth City, NC and Mount Laurel, NJ.
Anyone who knew Anthony recognized that he had a deep passion for the Pittsburg Steelers and the NY Yankees. Outside of sports, Anthony’s greatest passion was reading. He was an “avid reader” his entire life. His friends often marveled at how "fast" he would complete a novel. When asked if he wanted a Kindle or an IPad for books, his reply was always “there’s nothing like the feel of a good book in your hands.” He was also known to use ANYTHING as a bookmark. A letter, a pen, a receipt, a napkin… anything and everything he touched became a bookmark.
As a result of his love for literature and shortly before his passing, Anthony expressed his desire to return to college to pursue a Master’s degree in English and Literature. His passion was to teach and eventually become an author.
Tragically, however, Anthony was the victim of a hit-and-run accident on April 3, 2015. He had just relocated back to New Jersey from Elizabeth City, NC just three short weeks before.
Losing Anthony to tragedy is and will always be devastating to his family and friends. He was an exceptionally brilliant young man, so we, his family, want to honor his memory in a way that we believe would make him proud.
Therefore, to honor Anthony’s memory, we are proud to announce the 3rd Annual:
ANTHONY W. HARPER, JR. “MASTERING LITERACY” MEMORIAL CAMPAIGN
Anthony passionately believed that every child should be literate, therefore, it is our mission to host a book drive and fundraiser annually in his memory. 100% of the proceeds raised will be used to purchase books for children of all ages, preschool thru high school, who may not have books of their own.
We appreciate you taking the time to learn about our son and brother and for helping us to cherish his memory in this special way.
Your memorial donation to Bridge of Books is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support,
The A. Harper Family
